Logic Pro can work with MIDI keyboards and control surfaces for input and processing, and for MIDI output. Logic Express only handled up to 255 audio tracks, depending on system performance ( CPU and hard disk throughput and seek time), while, as of version 10.4.5, Logic Pro can handle up to 1000. Logic Express was limited to two-channel stereo mixdown, while Logic Pro can handle multichannel surround sound. Logic Pro and Express once shared many functions and the same interface. It also supports Apple Loops – royalty-free, professionally recorded instrument loops.

Apple's GarageBand comes free with all new Macintosh computers and iOS devices and is another application built on Logic's audio engine. Ī consumer-level version based on the same interface and audio engine but with reduced features, called Logic Express, was also available at a reduced cost. It is the second most popular DAW – after Ableton Live – according to a survey conducted in 2015.

I had to change the Detail View iKey shortcut (⌥L) to open in either Session or Arrange, rather than both of them 'simultaneously' as described in A higher state of mouselessness, the main iKey tutorial at MacAbleton. I'm mainly using 'Move focus to next or active window' (⌃ F4) and keeping Live on one desktop. It probably also depends on which of the methods available you are using to look at the two windows. Others just work on whichever window is in view. IKey shortcuts do work, but only some work in both Main and Second windows at the same time. One advantage of these last two methods is that they are good with extra windows such as those provided by Erasermice. Application Windows allows you to see small versions of all your windows at the same time. You can also swap views in the same space/desktop, using 'Move focus to next or active window' (⌃F4 - your computer may be set up differently in terms of shortcuts, but you can change them.Īnother way is to resize, maybe using an app like Moom which fits two windows onto the screen for you, if you have a large enough screen.Īpplication Windows (F10↑).
Now you can flick from one to the other using ⌘→ or whatever shortcut you are using. In Mountain Lion, simply create an extra desktop in Mission Control and drag the second window to that. You can use different methods to check out the second window if you only have one screen.(next bit pasted from MacAbleton website News section, so the images and embedded links are missing). I only have one screen, but I've been playing with the second window for a while.
